Patent and Trademark Office Integrations

Connect DocketTrak with Patent and Trademark Office Data

DocketTrak integrations retrieve data from supported patent and trademark offices, identify changes, update subscriber records and trigger applicable docketing rules.

US Patent Integration

DocketTrak connects with USPTO Patent Center and public patent data through PAIR Connect, the Patent Update Service and PTO Import. Together, these tools support pre-publication applications available through the subscriber’s Patent Center account and published or otherwise public patent records.

Integration capabilities:

  • PAIR Connect with Patent Center and MyUSPTO
PAIR Connect is DocketTrak’s Windows integration tool for USPTO Patent Center. It signs in through the subscriber’s MyUSPTO account, retrieves authorized application information and creates or updates the corresponding DocketTrak patent records.
  • Pre-publication application imports
PAIR Connect retrieves unpublished applications that are available through the subscriber’s Patent Center account, allowing confidential application data to be imported without waiting for the application to become public.
  • Patent Update Service for public records
The Patent Update Service checks published and otherwise public US patent records every day. When USPTO data changes, DocketTrak updates the affected records and sends an email identifying the patents and individual changes.
  • PTO Import for individual records
From an individual patent record, PTO Import retrieves current public USPTO information and displays it for comparison. The user chooses which available fields to import before updating DocketTrak.
  • Bibliographic and transaction-history data
USPTO integrations can retrieve application numbers, filing and publication information, status data, parties and other bibliographic details, together with available transaction-history information.
  • Prosecution and Image File Wrapper histories
For published patent records, PTO Import can retrieve prosecution-history entries and Image File Wrapper transaction codes so users can review important USPTO activity within DocketTrak.
  • Automatic deadline-template execution
After qualifying patent information is imported or updated, DocketTrak can execute the applicable Auto Docket Templates to create events and calculate due dates from the new USPTO activity.
  • Confirmation and summary emails
Automated emails provide a review point by showing which patent records were processed, what information changed and, when applicable, which events or deadlines were added.

Canada Patent Integration

DocketTrak retrieves available Canadian patent information from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). Similar to the US patent integration, CIPO data can be used to create or update patent records, support docketing activity and reduce repetitive review of the public office database.

Integration capabilities:

  • CIPO patent record updates
DocketTrak uses available CIPO patent data to update corresponding Canadian patent records when office information changes.
  • Current office data retrieval
The integration retrieves current public information from CIPO so subscribers can compare DocketTrak records with the Canadian office source.
  • Status and bibliographic information
Available application numbers, filing and publication information, status data, parties and other bibliographic fields can be added or updated from CIPO data.
  • Prosecution-history information
Available CIPO prosecution activity can be incorporated into the patent record to provide additional context about changes at the Canadian office.
  • Automatic deadline-template execution
When qualifying CIPO information is imported or updated, DocketTrak can execute the applicable Auto Docket Templates to create events and calculate due dates.
  • Subscriber review and reporting
Updated Canadian patent information remains available through DocketTrak views, searches, reports and audit histories for subscriber review.

US Trademark Integration

DocketTrak connects with USPTO trademark data to create records, retrieve images, monitor prosecution activity, update existing records and apply the appropriate docketing rules.

Integration capabilities:

  • Automatic creation by email address or Attorney of Record name
DocketTrak identifies newly filed US trademark applications associated with either an email address or an Attorney of Record name configured for the subscriber and creates records that do not already exist.
  • Trademark Update Service
The service monitors US trademark-office data and updates DocketTrak records when qualifying bibliographic, status or prosecution information changes.
  • PTO Import
From an individual trademark record, users can retrieve current USPTO information, compare it with DocketTrak and select which available fields to import.
  • Trademark image download
DocketTrak retrieves the available trademark image from USPTO data and associates it with the corresponding trademark record.
  • Prosecution-history and status updates
New USPTO prosecution entries and status information can be added to the record so subscribers can review important trademark-office activity within DocketTrak.
  • Automatic de-docketing
When qualifying USPTO activity makes future trademark events inapplicable, DocketTrak can complete or remove those events and identify the changes in a confirmation email.
  • Auto Docket Template execution
New or changed USPTO information can trigger the applicable standard or subscriber-customized templates to create events and calculate deadlines.
  • Confirmation and summary emails
Automated emails identify trademark records created or updated, information that changed and, when applicable, events added, completed or removed.

International Trademark Integrations

Every DocketTrak edition includes one patent or trademark country integration. The optional International Trademark Integration module adds automated trademark integrations for additional countries and costs $50 per month with every edition. Supported international trademark offices include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the European Union and WIPO. The information available and precise update behavior vary by office, but each integration is designed to reduce manual monitoring and keep DocketTrak records aligned with official sources.

Integration capabilities:

  • Canada — Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)
DocketTrak retrieves available Canadian trademark data from CIPO, including bibliographic, status, prosecution-history and published due-date information that can support Canadian docketing rules.
  • Australia — IP Australia
The Australian integration uses available IP Australia trademark data to update corresponding DocketTrak records with current office information.
  • New Zealand — Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ)
The New Zealand integration retrieves available IPONZ trademark data for use in DocketTrak record updates and portfolio monitoring.
  • United Kingdom — UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO)
The UK integration uses available UKIPO trademark information to help maintain current United Kingdom trademark records in DocketTrak.
  • European Union — European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)
The EU integration retrieves available EUIPO data for European Union trademark records and incorporates qualifying changes into DocketTrak.
  • WIPO — Madrid Monitor
The WIPO integration uses available Madrid Monitor data to support international registration and Madrid Protocol portfolio management.
  • Automatic record updates
For supported offices and data types, DocketTrak monitors official information and updates corresponding subscriber records when qualifying changes are detected.
  • Trademark Office-specific docketing activity
Imported office information can execute applicable Auto Docket Templates so events and due dates reflect the country, office and activity involved.

Review, Automation and Audit

Patent and Trademark Office integrations connect official data with DocketTrak’s review, deadline-calculation and audit tools. The specific workflow depends on whether information is imported by a user or processed by an automated service.

Integration capabilities:

  • Review imported data where applicable
PTO Import presents available office information for comparison before the user selects fields and updates an individual DocketTrak record.
  • Automatic background updates
Enabled Update Services monitor supported office sources and update qualifying subscriber records without requiring users to review each office record manually.
  • Execution of deadline-calculation rules
New filing dates, prosecution activity, statuses and other qualifying data can trigger the applicable Auto Docket Templates to create events and due dates.
  • View at PTO links
Links from DocketTrak records open the corresponding public office record, allowing users to consult the official source directly.
  • Emails listing record changes
Confirmation and summary emails identify records processed, data that changed and docketing activity generated by automated integrations.
  • Change Log and Transaction History
DocketTrak’s audit tools retain information about record and event changes, including when changes occurred and the user or automated process responsible.

DocketTrak turns supported office information into usable record updates, events, deadlines and review emails while keeping subscribers informed of automated activity.
