Automated Patent Docketing

Automated Patent Docketing Software

More Than Patent Record Management

Supporting patent records is not the same as automated patent docketing.

DocketTrak combines direct USPTO integration with built-in U.S. patent rules to automate patent prosecution docketing. Patent information and prosecution activity can be retrieved from the USPTO, matched to the appropriate patent record, and used to create applicable events and calculate associated due dates.

USPTO Patent Center Integration

DocketTrak connects with your MyUSPTO.gov account to retrieve patent information from USPTO Patent Center. Published and unpublished applications can be imported into DocketTrak along with bibliographic information and transaction history.

Patent data can then be automatically updated as prosecution progresses, reducing manual data entry and helping keep the docket synchronized with USPTO records. DocketTrak can create or update patent records and execute applicable deadline-calculation rules after qualifying USPTO activity is imported.

Capabilities include:

  • Published and unpublished patent application imports
  • Bibliographic and transaction-history data
  • Creation and updating of DocketTrak patent records
  • Automatic execution of applicable docketing rules
  • Prosecution events and calculated due dates

Patent e-Office Action Integration

DocketTrak integrates with the USPTO patent e-Office Action system to automate docketing when new USPTO correspondence is issued.

DocketTrak identifies the appropriate patent record, updates the record as necessary, creates applicable prosecution events, calculates associated due dates, and provides confirmation of the docketing activity. If an application does not already exist in the subscriber account, DocketTrak can create a basic patent record so the correspondence is not overlooked.

Built-In U.S. Patent Rules

DocketTrak includes built-in U.S. patent prosecution rules that automatically calculate applicable deadlines. Rather than requiring users to manually determine and enter each due date, DocketTrak applies its patent rules to the prosecution event and calculates the appropriate deadlines.

Standard patent rules can be supplemented with subscriber-created Auto Docket Templates for internal reminders and firm- or legal-department-specific procedures.

Automatic Patent Updates

DocketTrak can automatically update published and otherwise public U.S. patent records using current USPTO information, helping ensure that bibliographic information, prosecution status, and other patent data remain current.

Subscribers receive summary emails identifying changed patent records and the individual changes made, providing an additional review point for automated activity.

Maintenance Fees and Patent Expiration

DocketTrak automatically calculates U.S. patent maintenance-fee dates and patent expiration dates, keeping important post-issuance deadlines on the docket.

From USPTO Activity to Your Docket

USPTO Patent Center → Patent Record → Prosecution Event → Built-In Patent Rules → Due Dates → Docket Reminders

DocketTrak brings USPTO data and docketing rules together in one workflow, reducing manual docketing while helping patent professionals maintain accurate and current deadlines.
